Mt. Pleasant – MPFD responded to a house fire at 1342 Hidden Lakes Drive in the Hidden Lakes subdivision on Saturday night. Heavy smokes conditions were reported upon arrival of initial units.

While searching the residence FF’s discovered a semiconscious man after which he was removed from the fire.

Battalion Chief Bud Thames said,  ”He may have been sleeping. It’s hard to say”. He is currently listed in critical condition at MUSC.

FF’s were having difficulties searching the home due to heavy smoke conditions. Roof ventilation was performed and the FF’s re-entered the bedroom and found the victim.

The fire was small however the smoke was very dense and caused the major portion of the damage.

Initial reports to FF’s were that there was no one inside the fire however several minutes later they radioed that they had found someone and removed him.

The residence did have working smoking detectors that were activated and operating prior to the MPFD’s arrival.
