Colleton County- Firefighter/Paramedic

Colleton County Fire-Rescue is adding three full-time Firefighter-Paramedic positions to bring up an additional ALS Ambulance.
These positions are for 24 hours on duty, 48 hours off shift rotations. Approximate starting annual salary is low 50s based on 24/48 schedule at $14.36 hourly rate with overtime. All overtime pay is calculated on actual hours worked over 40 hours each week. Colleton County does not deduct for mealtime or sleep time. Benefits include, paid vacation, paid in-service training, full County benefits package and SC Police Officer’s Retirement System. Uniforms and personal protective equipment are provided.
Colleton County Fire-Rescue is a combination department and provides emergency services to 1133 square miles from 31 fire stations, including 7 ALS ambulances. This rural county is located in South Carolina’s Lowcountry Region on the Atlantic Ocean, between Charleston and Beaufort Counties. Fire-Rescue features up-to-date emergency medical equipment, including 12-lead monitors, progressive standing orders and modern firefighting equipment. All personnel perform firefighting, rescue and emergency medical duties.
Applicants must be a South Carolina certified firefighter (1131 or 1152) or possess an IFSAC Firefighter I or higher certification and hold current certification as a South Carolina or Nationally Registered Paramedic. Person’s must be in good physical condition, be of good moral character, have a high school diploma or GED and possess a valid SC Driver’s License. Pre-employment drug testing is a condition of employment.

Performs a variety of duties in fire & building code inspections with fire prevention & suppression. You will normally be gone for two week time periods and will have to be able to respond within a few hours notice.

This is a Command Staff position that supervises and directs the training, mechanical, budget, logistics, and fire alarm system functions of the Greenville City Fire Department. Serves as the Planning Chief or Logistics Chief Officer at major emergency incidents. Salary Range: $44,075 – $72,508
Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all Fire Department vehicles and motorized equipment including purchasing and ordering parts and equipment; maintaining service, repair, and replacement records; and, supervising the work of the Assistant Fire Mechanic. Training in fire pumps operations and repairs as well as hydraulic pumps and pressures for operation and repair of aerial ladders is necessary. Over four years experience and additional training beyond high school in auto and diesel mechanics is required. Valid SC CDL with Hazmat endorsement is required.
